Welcome to my Madness

I suppose anyone reading this blog probably has some remote interest in either Yoga or Pole Dancing.  Therefore, let me start with the boring part and tell you my story.  I had a love for dance and music since the first time I can recall having a memory of anything.  I spent most of my youth wanting to be Madonna and taking dance classes.  I was also a cheerleader which is basically what happens if you give a dancer unlimited access to sugar and an inflated ego.  I hate to workout but I love to eat and that worked out okay for me until about two three years ago.  Now that I am in my thirties I figured out that if I don't work out I gain weight and get this lovely thing called cellulite.  I am also allergic to everything so you can call me "Paul Pfeiffer."  If you understood that reference you are awesome.  I won't be discussing my personal life in this blog but I will tell you I have a ten year old Chihuahua who is my perfect angel.

I have been through quite a bit of loss the last seven years of my life and I got completely Hulked out.  I really needed to find some peace and I also needed to find some kind workout I could stand that would keep my bod hot.  That is when I was introduced to yoga.  I started getting really into my practice and sometimes I would take a class twice a day.  I found a Guru named Gabrielle Bernstein who helped me start meditating and introduced me to Kundalini.  I even got certified as a Reiki Healer.  I was feeling so much better and life felt great.

I still needed another outlet though.  Dance was missing from my life since I had stopped going to the bar 5 days a week.  I always wanted to try Pole Dance because I thought it was hot.  I had a pole and I had no idea how to use it.  One random day, at a random job I met Amy, who was opening a pole studio in my area, and now I have been a student at Flirt Fitness for two years.  Now yoga it came pretty easy for me since I am flexible.  So you would think that combined with my dance and gymnastics background would make me a show in for pole dancing.  Totally wrong!! I have defeat after defeat in pole and it is the most challenging thing I have ever done.  But, sometimes I do get a trick on the first attempt and it looks really pretty; that is what keeps me addicted.

You might be thinking with all this dedication I am probably the fittest and happiest person on Earth!  That is totally not the case and this blog is all about me losing my way, finding it again, growing in my yoga and pole, and perhaps finally finding that balance I am after.  So if you aren't totally bored with me yet....stay tuned....the rest is yet to come.
